I’ve had bagels on my list of things to try and make myself for a long time. The opportunity to try to make them myself came to me, finally, at a rather trying culinary time.
But, hey, when life hands you lemons (or really bad homemade samosas), make bagels!
I tried to make samosas, the recipe from which cookbook I won’t mention because I’m pretty sure I screw up recipes sometimes when I go too off-grid and measurement refusal.
But, I did realize the dough was kind of chewy… And bagel-y!!
So, here I present my first attempt at homemade everything bagels.
So wonderful and easy, too!
1 cup wheat pastry flour
1/2 cup warm water
Mix until combined. No waiting. No rising. No mess.
I sprinkled the top with sesame seeds, minced onion and garlic at the last minute. And my bagels became everything. (See what I did there? 🙂
They’re not perfect, but they were a valiant first try.
Happy First Tries!
